VistaTEC is looking for a Localisation Engineer with experience of operating Translation Management Systems/Workflow within a production environment and other desktop localisation
tools.

Job Purpose

Provide technical support to translation projects up to the value of $1m. Handle the technical processing of translation files, from file preparation to creation of deliverables, running checking tools and fixing of issues.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

To assist with the evaluation of a new translation management system.
Carry out all operations associated with the use of a translation management system
within a production environment, including but not limited to:
Configuration of workflows, filters, users, etc.
Import and configuration of translation memories and glossaries.
Preparation of assets for uploading into system.
"Pushing" of assets through the entire workflow.
Assessment of translation environment.
Running reports.
Reporting bugs and registering enhancements.
Make comparisons between new system and other systems.

Requirements & Personal Characteristics

Minimum 1 years experience of using a translation management system within an operational production environment.
Workflow software provider accredited preferred.
Good organisational and interpersonal skills
Dynamic, flexible and self motivated
Good problem solving skills
Organized and methodical
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

Localisation Engineer – entry to mid level Larsen Globalisation

Our client is a world-class producer of printers and office systems, based in Hertfordshire (30 mins from London). They are now looking for a Localisation Engineer with some experience of localisation tools. This can be on an entry level. The contract is initially for six months, with a good possibility of extension. 

This job is an excellent opportunity to start in the localisation industry. It provides those in this position a solid and practical working knowledge of the latest developments in translation tools, processes and technologies and depending on their aspirations and abilities can lead to other technical or project coordination roles.

Job Purpose

Provide technical support to translation projects up to the value of $1m. Handle the technical processing of translation files, from file preparation to creation of deliverables, running checking tools and fixing of issues.

Principal Accountabilities

Pre-process and post-process files for translation using a variety of localisation tools
Troubleshoot and fix any translation memory processing issues
Run file-checks on localised files and fix issues
Report issues you cannot fix and track to conclusion
Liaise with translators and other staff as appropriate to resolve issues
Pilot processes and checklists and suggest process improvements
Ensure localised deliverables are ready for handoff

Education and Background Experience

Qualification in  Computing or related degree
Knowledge of Trados or other translation memory tools
Knowledge of MS Project, operating systems (Windows, UNIX and Mac OS), networks and industry-standard software (ToolProof, Help/HTML QA, RoboHelp, Webworks, Search and Replace scripts, Beyond Compare)
Knowledge of second language – helpful but not essential

Localization Engineer Grade 3 
(Computer Aided Translation (CAT) Specialist)

Reporting to:  Engineer Grade 4/Engineering Manager

Description of job:

The Localisation Engineer Grade 3 typically has responsibility for managing a team(s) on substantial engineering projects, both in terms of project and HR duties. An engineer of this grade may also be a highly experienced technical specialist..

Main Responsibilities include:

Manages a substantial engineering project or projects.
Owns or participates in the improvement of the engineering or production processes on a customer account.
Works with project PMs to ensure that engineering activities are in line with project budget and scope. 
Provides support to Grade 1 and Grade 2 engineers.
May have HR responsibilities for direct reports, including timesheet approval, Performance reviews, employee grievances, team morale, performance issues and holiday approval (in conjunction with Engineering Manager).
Develops automation and custom solutions for accounts.
Contributes to the development of the engineering strategy for the account.
Owns or contributes to departmental initiatives.
Provides detailed reporting to Senior Engineer, Project Manager or client on project status, including progress towards milestones, relevant trends in bug data and issues threatening deadlines or budgets.
Has responsibility for the financial well being of the project – engineering budget is managed and overall awareness of project budget

Note: Where required it is expected that an engineer of this grade performs the duties of lower grades. 

Responsibilities unique to the CAT Specialist role

Performing and managing CAT tasks
Process improvements and automation
Provide new techniques and methodologies to reduce words
Provides technical support to wider CAT teams
Provides technical support to Sales on all new CAT opportunities
Owner of MT (Machine Translation) for the Dublin site.

Qualifications & Skills:

A minimum of 7 years of general computer use, knowledge of operating systems.
A minimum of 5 years localisation engineering experience.
Degree-level education in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
A high standard of spoken and written English, excellent communication skills in emailing, reporting, presenting and liaising with clients.
Good knowledge of at least one programming language. Familiarity with several programming languages.
Excellent knowledge of common productivity applications (e.g. Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.).
Ability to solve problems, show initiative and enthusiasm and give attention to detail.
Ability to work independently without previous instructions.
A high level of initiative.
Proven ability to lead teams. Demonstrated ability to manage projects and people.
In-depth experience across multiple Customers, projects and technologies
Positive attitude

Qualifications & Skills unique to this role:

·         Degree in Computational & Linguistics a huge advantage

·         3 years working with CAT technology (Logoport, Trados etc.)

·         Expertise in MT a distinct advantage

·         Knowledge of segmentation and regular expressions

·         Ability to troubleshoot

Lexcelera is on the leading edge of translation technologies such as Machine Translation, and we are looking for someone to join our team who also likes to be on the edge of new technological developments that increase productivity and quality for customers.

The position we offer combines some R&D with a lot of hands-on linguistic engineering work managing project preparation and post-production from analysis to delivery as well as supporting all production team members before, during and after the localization process.

We’re looking for a technical whiz who is highly organized, yet creative enough to invent optimal processes and new ways of working.

Technical Responsibilities include:

Project scoping

File analysis and preparation

Administration of translation memories

Machine translation processing

Creation of regular expressions, etc, for automatic post-editing

Compiling of files, screenshooting

Engineering of UI components

We don't expect you to have experience with the latest MT technologies (we'll train) but we do expect you to have an open, inquiring mind. You should d speak at least English or French fluently, preferably both.

Our international, dynamic team is located in the centre of Paris, at the Place de la Bastille. You will need to have French or European working papers to join us .

The successful candidate will have at least 2 years experience as a localization engineer along with a proven track record of innovation.
