Trados Specialist

Job Title:  Trados Specialist
Department:  Localisation

Responsibilities:

Managing computer-aided translation tools: file preparation, memory maintenance
Contributing to project preparation: analysing files to be translated/localized and providing feedback 
Researching new and existing tools and products and keeping up to date with developments in the industry. Become document engineer specialising in parser creation, macro creation, etc. 
Training new employees in using translation tools 
Providing feedback to in-house and external translation tool users 
Provide accurate estimates for PM to aid quotes and final billing information 
Create clear communications and specific instructions to the language resources used when required for Trados use. 
Prioritise tasks while handling multiple projects simultaneously 
Work on all CAT tools and processes to ensure that they are reviewed on a regular basis, that we are using the most efficient processes, methodologies and tools for each job 
Update and maintain all work instructions relating to the Trados and CAT tool functions 
Provide backup\support to Localisation department (QA and Engineering). 

Job requirements:

Ability to multi-task in a time sensitive and deadline driven work environment and stay cool under pressure 
Detail orientated 
Adaptable and flexible to changing work environment 
Ability to work within a team environment 
Third level degree in software engineering, localisation or similar 
User of Windows desktop, email and file management applications. Knowledge of computer-aided translation tools, software localisation tools and techniques and web-based applications is an asset. 
Experience in any of the following: TRADOS Translation Workbench, Robohelp, Alchemy Catalyst, and knowledge of HTML and XML Formats 

 

Localisation Project Manager

Internal Translator - Post Editor

Job Title:  Internal Translator - Post Editor (Immediate Vacancy)

Description of job: 
VistaTEC is looking for a translator/post editor with experience and genuine interest in Machine Translation. The successful applicant will be part of a new automated translation services team. The initial primary function (two-four weeks) is to provide post-editing services to one of VistaTECs Dublin based clients. Upon successful completion of this, the applicant will have an opportunity to help establish and maintain MT systems internally. The secondary function will be to provide traditional linguistic services, including translation, proofreading, language review and glossary/TM tasks.

Responsibilities:

Founding member of an automated translation services team at VistaTEC
Post-editing machine translated documents
Designing and maintaining MT system internally
Documenting new and existing process and support material
Train and support external partners.
Work with VT Tools Group on translation process and ideas for tools development, adding linguistic angle to specs/considerations
Investigate client language review feedback and linguistic rebuttals
Carry out independent quality checks on vendor translation
Perform small translations for VistaTEC clients
Assist with sample and test translations.
TM management and terminology management

 

Job requirements:

Degree or Masters in translation or computational linguistics essential.
Native speaker of French, German, Spanish or Italian with fluent English
IT localization experience highly desirable.
Expert knowledge of standard CAT packages a must (Trados, SDLX, Catalyst etc)
Experience with Machine Translation and Post Editing preferable
An interest in the future of translation and technology would be very beneficial
Good written and verbal communication skills.
Logical thinker and problem solver
