The LRC is pleased to announce the launch of the first International Journal of Localisation. This is a new, annual, peer-reviewed journal published by the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Limerick, Ireland. It covers all topics relevant to localisation, which, broadly defined, is the provision of services and technologies for the management of multilingualism across the global information flow.

Recognising the rapidly converging economic and technological forces that necessitate global interaction, the journal provides an international forum for the discussion and dissemination of research comprising any and all of the many facets that comprise localisation, which we define in the broadest sense.

Submit an essay:

The journal invites essays that explore issues of importance to the emerging discipline of localisation, including topics in the theory and practice of localisation, in best practices, computer science, education, globalisation, internationalisation, project management, language and cultural issues, standards, translation, etc.  Reviews, notes, and books for review are also encouraged.  Since the audience for the journal represents a wide cross-section of disciplines, submissions should be written in lucid, jargon-free prose.

Manuscripts should be single-spaced, submitted electronically and in print, and bear the author's name only on the cover letter.  Electronic submissions must be in Microsoft Word or Adobe .PDF format and be sent as attachments. You can download the Specifications Style Sheet here (Word 2000, 70.5Kb).

The deadline for the second submission of essays is July 1, 2004.
