Onlinetranslations.com launches MicroTrans

September 21, 2001 --Onlinetranslations.com launches MicroTrans, to coincide with the European Day of Languages 2001.

The European Day of Languages, which focuses on the languages used throughout the EU in professional as well as in private life, serves as an excellent reminder to all businesses that English is not the language of choice for many of today's web users.

Research has proved that increasingly customers wish to buy products which
are sold to them in their own language rather than accepting English as the
lingua franca of business. In fact, Forrester states that: "People are three times more likely to purchase goods from sites in their own language."

MicroTrans has been designed to provide a cost-effective localisation solution for
companies wishing to break into new export markets or to increase their
visibility within existing ones.

The Microtrans package, which retails at Euros 3200 (+ VAT), adds value to clients' existing web presence through the localisation of 6 priority web pages into
four languages of your choice, web engineering of the translations into a specially
designed export microsite and experienced project management.

"We discovered that many exporters are reluctant to commit valuable resources to localising their web presence, without guaranteed success within their chosen markets," Jennifer Walsh, Customer Services Manager, commented. "MicroTrans is a unique, new service which will allow companies to investigate potential international markets more effectively."

New STAR product, downloadable for FREE

September 10, 2001 --New STAR product, downloadable for FREE

The STAR Group, a leading software provider in language technology is now offering free software on the internet.

STAR’s new product is called TRANSIT SATELLITE PE and is now freely available for all to download by visiting the recently launched website
www.star-transit.com
PE stands for Personal Edition, the latest member of the Transit family of translation editor/translation memory products.

"This is a great opportunity for all translation professionals to use our technology free of charge“, states Executive Product Manager Ulrich Schmidt.
Most interest is expected to come from translation agencies or other customers drawing on a large international network of freelance translators. From now on it will be possible for them to equip ALL freelancers with professional, state-of-the-art translation technology at the click of a button, and at no extra cost. The only outlay necessary is for TRANSIT Professional, with which (internal) project managers prepare - i.e. import and export - translation projects for freelance translators. It comes into its own when time is short and new freelancers are signing up but they don’t have the software. All they need to do is download Transit Satellite PE from the Internet. This helps save a lot of time even before the actual translation process has started.
