LTC Wins LANGTECH Award

October 9, 2002 - The Language Technology Centre Ltd, based in Surrey in the UK, was awarded a prize offered by Berlin Investment Bank during the LangTech 2002 conference in Berlin last week. Companies were invited to submit a Company presentation for an "elevator" session for language technology SMEs. Voted by an international jury, prizes worth a total of 3,000 EUR were awarded to the three best presentations from the LangTech SME "elevator pitch" sessions. The Language Technology Centre, UK, won the 3rd Prize.

The jury - comprising technology and investment know-how - paid particular attention to the following points:

· overall impact of presentation,
· degree of innovation / R&D capabilities of the organisation,
· relevance of market scenario (size, development, competitors),
· company development potential (human resources), and
· appropriateness of investment required.

RUBRIC Opens New Business Development Office in UK 

October 14, 2002 - Rubric, a leading localization and translation services provider, announced the opening of a new business development office in the United Kingdom. The new office will act to serve technology companies in the UK, Ireland and the broader European market.

Industry veteran Jessica Rathke will act as Director of Business Development of technology localization for companies in European markets, bringing more than eleven years of localization experience to the new UK business development office. Rathke was formerly Director of Business Development for the central United States. In her new role, Rathke is responsible for formulating business development strategies, building Rubric's client base and overseeing customer relations in Europe.

A Free Gift From LOGOS: The LOGOS Toolbar

October 28, 2002 - Because many of the facilities offered over the web by Logos are in constant use by both customers and language professionals, Logos have devised a new toolbar to give even faster access. Any user who has Internet Explorer 5 or greater can download it for free at http://www.logos.it/toolbars/en/toolbar.html. With the toolbar, users will be able to access:

- The Logos Dictionary search engine,
- Wordtheque,
- Verba, the Verb Conjugator, and
- The Verba Volant database containing tons of quotations.

Providing the user is online at the time, typing an entry into any of the search boxes will return an immediate result directly from the Web. A pull-down menu offers links to other Logos resources along with a Settings option. This option enables the user to select the toolbar language as well as the language to be searched in each of the search boxes.

TRADOS WINS GOVERNOR'S AWARD FOR INNOVATION IN TECHNOLOGY

Alexandria, Virginia, October 30, 2002 - TRADOS today announced that it has received the 2002 Governor's Award for Innovation in Technology. Virginia’s Secretary of Technology, George C. Newstrom presented the Award at the 4th Annual Commonwealth of Virginia Information Technology Symposium (COVITS) held September 25, 2002, at Virginia Military Institute in Lexington.  COVITS is the foremost state conference for Virginia executives from government, education, regional technology councils and associations, and the private sector. 

The Innovation in Technology Award recognizes the Virginia company or university that best demonstrates the creation of a new innovative technology, or a significant improvement to an existing technology or its application, that has the potential to greatly alter how business is done in a particular industry.
