Workshop:
Standards in
Localisation
On
the 13th May, the LRC held a workshop on standards in localisation, in
cooperation with the 21st International Unicode Conference in Dublin
(Ireland).
The attendees came from many
different countries including Japan and the US. Special focus was put on
the emerging XLIFF localisation standard and
many interesting contributions were made by the participants during the
discussion sessions. Alan Barret, the chairperson, was congratulated by
the LRC's director, Reinhard Schäler, for
his performance in the workshop. The speakers' profiles and their

LRC Localisation Summer School 2002
The LRC is pleased to
announce its second International Summer School, which will be taking
place in the University of Limerick next 17-20 June 2002. Details on the
courses and fees will be made available shortly.

ELECT
comes to the LRC
The European Localisation
Exchange Centre (ELECT) will build on the foundations laid by the LRC and
become the focus point for the multilingual digital content industries in
Europe.
ELECT will provide reliable
information on best practice, facilitate easy access to know-how and
technology, make guidelines available on linguistics and cultural
customisation, and enhance the visibility and recognition of this industry
in Europe and worldwide with specific actions for experts and new
entrants.
