LRC 2002 eContent Localisation Conference

The 7th Annual Localisation conference hosted by the LRC, and supported by a wide range of industry bodies, took place at UCD's O'Reilly Hall on the 12th and 13th of November. Details of the conference, along with speakers presentations, are now available on our web site. 

Winner of the 6th Annual LRC Localisation Best Thesis Award 2002

During the LRC 2002 eContent Localisation conference, the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) presented the sixth annual award for the best thesis on a localisation-related topic, again generously sponsored by Symantec Ireland Ltd. The winner was John Papaioannou. John received the award for his MBA thesis, entitled "The Localisation Outsourcing Decision". Find out more.

1st Annual TILP Social Event

The 1st Annual TILP Social Event took place on Tuesday, 12 November, 2002 in the Gravity Bar, part of the Guinness Storehouse, Dublin. The event was deemed to be a huge success by all those who attended. Click here for further information.

Call for Experts: ELECT Experts Council

We would like to invite you to join our Expert Council on the ELECT project.
The objective is to get a broad spectrum of eContent development and localisation expertise within the council, e.g. eContent publishers, localisation vendors, web designers and architects, legal and commercial bodies, standards consortiums, ISPs (global and local), TV producers, representatives of the hotel and tourist industry.

The first annual expert workshops was held 14 November, 2002, with a second workshop planned for 2003 to collect constructive input to the following topics:

bulletDevelopment of Global Web Sites (Internationalisation)
bulletLocalisation of eContent and web sites including cross-cultural aspects

Proceedings of these workshops will be localised into 4 European languages and published on the ELECT web portal.
