LRC XI Conference Programme Announced

The programme for the 11th Annual Localisation and Internationalisation conference (Dublin, Ireland, 25-26 October 2006)organised by the LRC has been announced.

The event will be opened by Tony O’Dowd of Alchemy Software Development as he reflects on how the localisation industry has changed over the last two decades. The keynote for the first day of the conference will be given by Lisa Moore, Senior Manager, IBM IM Globalization, who will talk about the Common Locale Data Repository (CLDR). This keynote will be followed by sessions on Translation Quality and Automation, Localisation—Outside the Mainstream, and New Media Localisation.

Day two of the event will kick off with Richard Ishida, Internationalisation Activity Lead for the W3C, giving a keynote on the Internationalisation Tag Set work at the W3C. This will be followed by sessions on Process Automation, demonstrations and presentations from the IGNITE project and a panel discussion on workflow and process automation.

TILP AGM 

16 November 2006

TILP’s 2006 AGM will take place on the evening of Thursday, 16 November in London’s Copthorne Tara Hotel. The AGM will follow a TILP Ask the Experts session organised in conjunction with ASLIB Translating and the Computer 28.

Annual Localisation Reader

Since 2003, the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) and Multilingual Computing have collaborated to produce an Annual Localisation Reader.

Intended for use by teachers and students of localisation and translation, each reader consists of a wide range of articles and papers that were published over a twelve-month period in both Localisation Focus–The International Journal of Localisation, and MultiLingual Computing and Technology magazine.

Each edition of the reader is available in both hard copy and electronic format.
