1st Annual ELECT LRC Best Global Website Award ELECT, the European Localisation Exchange Centre, based in the Localisation Research Centre (LRC) at the University of Limerick announces the first ever award for the most innovative website in relation to multilingual and multicultural issues. This award, sponsored by EURO RSCG Wnek Gosper Interaction, invites individuals who have designed and/or are operating a multi-lingual website to submit their work for consideration. Websites will be judged on a variety of different criteria by a panel of academic and industry experts. The
intertwining of the traditional localisation industry and new media publishing
has led to the development of a wide range of new activities. These activities
have allowed Europe to both maintain and enhance its position at the forefront
of multilingual and multicultural digital publishing. In recognition of both the innovative work being done to make
websites globally competitive but locally relevant, and the importance of this still emerging digital
market, ELECT is launching its Best Global Website award. Jesús
Maroto,
Localisation Director at Euro RSCG Interaction in London, UK, said: “The European Union (EU) has recognised that
localisation is core for the equal and inclusive digital world. Localisation
makes the global information society possible,”
said LRC Director Reinhard Schäler.
“The LRC is proud to launch this award as part of the EU-funded
ELECT project, which it runs in partnership with Bowne Global Solutions (BGS).
We are particularly pleased with the enthusiasm and support shown by Europe's
largest interactive marketing agency, Euro RSCG. This award will raise awareness
of localisation by rewarding excellence. The winner will set standards and be
recognised by experts and peers as the example to follow.” CRITERIA: In order to be considered
