Reinhard Schäler has been working with Irish and overseas companies in the area of
software localisation since 1986. Together with universities and industrial partners, he
has prepared and co-ordinated successful proposals for projects under the European Union's
Fourth Framework Programme and organized several international conferences and workshops.
He has given lectures on the subject at Irish universities, presented papers at
international conferences on Natural Language Processing and has published a number of
articles on NLP and software localisation. He has been a researcher in the Department of
Computer Science, University College Dublin, since 1993 and is the manager of the
Localisation Resources Centre (UCD) since 1996. He is a founder member of the Software
Localisation Interest Group (SLIG) and its chairperson since 1996.

| Bernice
McDonagh |

Bernice McDonagh has been working with the Localisation Resources Centre since May
1996. A graduate of University College Galway, she completed an MA in Translation Studies
at Dublin City University in 1995. Prior to joining the LRC she spent six months as a
trainee with the European Parliament in Luxembourg where she worked on the evaluation of
texts for alignment and translation memory preparation.

Wybrants |

Helen Wybrants joined the LRC in February as the project manager for the ADAPT projet
Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) of which the LRC is the promoting organisation.
Helen was the first chairperson of SLIG in 1994 and the organizer of the first SLIG
conference, SLIG '95. Subsequently, she coordinated the work of SLIG's special interest
group on training and education and published a position paper on the work of this group
in the LRC's 1997 Yearbook. She
prepared the final proposal of the CLP project for the LRC, which was based on an initial
proposal prepared by the LRC and Una Murphy of TELSI.

| Conor
McDonagh |

Conor McDonagh had been working for some time on a short-term contract basis before he
joined the LRC in January to work with the centre on the European TransRouter Project and maintain its Localisation
Information Exchange Point (LIEP). Conor was awarded a PhD by University College Galway
and has worked as research officer in DCU. He has also worked on research projects in the
semiconductor and telecommunications industries.
