bulletCourse name: Professional Development Course – Localisation Project Management
bulletCourse date: 05 February 2002 (10:30) – 06 February 2002 (16:00)
Course fee: €1,000 (course fee includes course book, lunch and refreshments)
Course delivery: Tom Connolly
bulletCourse description: This course is to be recognised by The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP) as partial fulfilment of the requirements for the Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) – Localisation Project Management (grade 1).

The course is targeted at project managers new to localisation or those with
a few year's experience.

The aim of the course is to guide people in their personal development as
project managers in localisation. It is a foundation course, focusing on a
few key lessons with the intent that these be remembered, as opposed to a
detailed information "dump". There are six sessions in the course adding up
to a total of 9 hours. The course will:

bulletTeach the Basics of project management in localisation.
bullet Guide attendees towards getting the desired results - theirs and their
managers'- by setting up and managing their projects well.
bulletEnsure that the lessons learned are easy to remember and to apply.

For graduate project managers the course will provide some insight into what
they can expect as they begin their careers. For more experienced project
managers the course will remind them of the basics, reinforce the good
practices that may have slipped due to daily pressures, and give them the
benefit of experience outside their existing environment.

For training or department managers considering sending an employee on this
course, the benefit is that the personal learning experienced by the
employee on this course will translate into a fresher more focussed approach
in the workplace.

management review. Schedule will be required, resourcing plan will be
required, budget is optional.

DISCUSSION OF LESSONS LEARNED.

If people need more time in the previous session I can facilitate this.
However a very important part of the course will be for attendees to write
down what they learned and what they are going to do differently as a result
of the course.

The first fifteen - twenty minutes of this session will be a re-cap of the
course.

The remainder of the session will consist of discussing the main learning
points that people are willing to share, and of me answering any questions
that attendees have.

While the localisation process will be studied, the course is not intended
to deliver in-depth localisation training, and it is not intended to give
training on any tools or technologies.
