The LRC will hold its second International Localisation Summer School this year. The courses will be delivered by localisation professionals in the state-of-the-art facilities of the Department of Computer Science at the University of Limerick, home of the LRC.

Why a Localisation Summer School?

bulletTo provide students who do not have the opportunity to attend the full time courses run by the University to learn about software localisation.

To provide professionals in the industry with a forum where they can discuss new and emerging issues and technologies  .

Which courses will be offered?

The Second LRC Localisation Summer School 2002 will offer two courses:

bullet Foundation Course in Software Localisation (2 days, 17-18 June 2002)

This course is aimed at people with little or no prior knowledge of software localisation. There will be four half-day sessions: (1) Management of the Software Localisation Process; (2) Localisation Document Engineering and Translation; (3) Localisation Engineering; (4) Localisation QA and Testing, and an introduction to internationalisation issues.

bulletAdvanced Course in Software Localisation (2 days, 19-20 June 2002)

This course is aimed at localisation professionals who would like to learn about new trends and technologies and exchange views with their peers. There will be four half-day sessions with a focus on new and emerging technologies and standards and the management of complex, multiple-language projects.

Hands-on
All courses will be delivered, where appropriate, in designated computer laboratories. They are designed to provide hands-on experience to participants, will cover the latest versions of tools and technologies and practical exercises. Some plenary sessions will be held in a purpose built lecture theatre.

Certificate
All participants will receive an LRC Certificate, with details of the course they attended.

Course handbook
All participants will receive a course handbook.
 

Fees
Foundation course:  €600
Advanced course:    €600
10% discount if you book more than one course (per delegate).

All bookings must be received with payment by the LRC by 7 June 2002. Unfortunately, the LRC cannot refund booking fees but will accept substitutes for confirmed delegates, provided it receives confirmation 2 working days before the event. 

The LRC will keep a limited number of places for lecturers and students of recognized third level institutions. Fees include refreshments, buffet lunch, course dinner, and course material.
