Excursion

The social event for the 2006 Summer School will feature a visit to the world-famous Aran Islands, off the West Coast of Ireland. The Aran Islands are one of the most scenic and beautiful areas of Ireland and home to both spectacular scenery and historical ruins.

Attendees will depart the University of Limerick on the afternoon of Wednesday 14th of June and go by bus to Connemara airport in Co Galway. They will then fly to Inismore, the biggest of the Aran Islands, where they will take a tour of the historic Dun Aengus ruins before dining. Dinner will be followed by traditional Irish music and drinks in a local pub. Accommodation will be in Mainistir House.

The next morning the group shall return to the University of Limerick where classes will resume on Thursday afternoon for the final sessions of the Summer School.

Wednesday 14th June

1.30 PM Bus Trip to Connemara  via scenic Clare & Galway Coast Road
4.00 PM Arrive at Connemara Airport
4.30 PM  Flight to Aran Island (Inismore)
5.00 PM Island Tour
7.30 PM  Dinner 
Later... Pub with traditional Irish Music


Thursday 16th June

 8.50 AM Depart Mainistir House
 9.30 AM Flight to Connemara Airport
10.00 AM  Bus back to the University of Limerick
12.30 PM Lunch
 1.30 PM  Sessions resume
