Columbia
Pictures produced a movie in Egypt that caused a lot of offence to the
general public. The actors’ accents were Pakistani, their clothes were
Moroccan and their behaviour was American. The most upsetting element of
the movie, however, was the portrayal of the former Egyptian President,
Gamal Abdel Nasser, kissing his wife in public. This public display of
affection is highly unacceptable in Islamic countries.
The result of the
inaccuracies was that all Columbia Pictures productions were banned from
the country.
