The multinational fast-food
chain, McDonalds, received many complaints from local authorities in
Mexico back in 1988 when it displayed the Mexican national flag on the
placemats in its restaurants to commemorate the national Flag Day.
The Mexicans were highly
offended by this gesture. The did not want grease and ketchup defacing
their national emblem and as a result, they quickly confiscated the
placemats.
