The TechLink Consortium

The TechLink consortium is made up of expert organisations in the areas of localisation teaching and training. Each partner has a different area of expertise that, when combined with the rest of the consortium will help will drive the TechLink Project and ensure that all the goals of the project are achieved

 

The Localisation Research Centre (LRC) of the University of Limerick has been the educational, research and infrastructural support centre for the localisation industry in Ireland, one of the world centres of localisation, since 1995. It has an Industrial Advisory Board representing twenty of the world’s leading localisation service providers, eContent publishers, software developers, tools developers and training organisations.
The Intercultural Studies Group at Universitat Rovira I Virgili carries out research on mediation between cultures, particularly with respect to new technologies. The University is the public university of the southern regions of Catalonia, with campuses in Tarragona, Reus and Vila-seca. The Intercultural Studies Group are experts in the training of teachers in new translation technologies, training translators and interpreters as well as online training in translation and will bring that expertise to the TechLink project.
The Institute of Localisation Professionals (TILP) is a not-for-profit, membership-based organisation directed by a Council, which is elected at the Institute’s annual general meeting by its members. The main aim of TILP is to develop professionalism in localisation worldwide. TILP runs the Certified Localisation Professional (CLP) programme, aimed at providing professional certification for professions in the localisation industry at different levels of expertise. The Centre for Development of Advanced Computing (C-DAC) Mumbai is engaged in research, development, education and deployment in areas of advanced Information Technology (IT). C-DAC has operating units at over 10 different locations in India. C-DAC Mumbai, one of the centers of C-DAC, pursues R&D in areas such as 3-D graphics and visualisation, Artificial Intelligence, Educational Technology including eLearning, Open source software development, and software localisation.
